Patch 6 has dropped for Smalland: Survive the Wilds, and with it, the game has brought a few new features.
Here are some of the biggest features to keep an eye on when you next play.
You Can Make Custom Signs
Let’s dive right into the new changes.
First, the devs have brought signs to the game.
You can craft signs that only cost two pieces of wood to make.
You can put them on walls, chests, basically anything.
You’re also able to type whatever you want on the sign.
There is a character limit of 10 characters, however.
So, you won’t be able to write out a descriptive title, but it can help you become a bit more organized.
More Inventory Slots
You may also notice that your inventory slots look a little different after downloading the patch.
That’s because the devs are working on the inventory system.
You’ll see equipment in your inventory as well as your character UI.
Your inventory now has eight more slots.
The reasons the devs give for changing how this works is that they’re working on a feature in the future and having the equipment in your inventory is necessary for that feature.
If you’re wondering where your equipment went, then just look at your inventory.
Craftable Armor!
Finally, you can craft your own armor at certain work benches.
Before the patch, you’d have to find the correct NPC who would make the armor for you.
Since they also require resources, you’d need to spend time gathering those resources, then take the long trek to one of the NPCs to have them craft it for you.
That is no longer the case.
Now, you can craft armor yourself at your own workbenches.
There is one exception, however.
One of the quests keeps a certain NPC locked, so you’re still going to need to get the armor they provide through them.
You can’t make it on your own.
Combat Animations Have Received Tweaks
You may also notice that you’re able to move a lot faster following combat.
Before the patch, the character would have to complete the combat animation before you could move anywhere.
The devs have tweaked that allowing you to move even as the animation ends.
This can give you an opportunity to run away or start on the next attack instead of just standing there and taking a hit.
Better Organization of Workbenches Through Sorting
You don’t have all day to look for the right workbench in your crafting menu.
The devs have made this easier for you by tagging workbenches.
All you need to do is click on the tab, and you can find all your workbenches in one area.
It just helps speed things up a bit.
Conclusion
Smalland: Survive the Wilds has been providing great update after great update.
This is another quality of life fix that makes the game a bit more enjoyable and approchable.
With the devs promising an even bigger update to come, we can only imagine what they have in store for us.
