There’s a lot more to fishing than first meets the eye in Medieval Dynasty.
Fishing can provide an additional food source for your villagers, but it can also help you earn more money.
In this survival guide, we’ll show you everything about fishing to help you make the most of your fishing hut in Medieval Dynasty.

How To Unlock The Fishing Hut in Medieval Dynasty
You’re going to need to do a bit of grinding to unlock the fishing hut if you’re not a regular hunter.
The fishing hut unlocks at 500 survival points.
The easiest way to get 500 survival points in the survival tech tree is to hunt.
The animals that offer the most points per kill is the wisent, bear, and moose.
The bear and wisent are among the highest.
Once you reach 500 points in the survival tech tree, you’ll unlock the fishing hut and can craft it.
The fishing hut can only go in water, so you’ll need to put in a deep river or lake.
How To Assign Workers to the Fishing Hut
The best worker to assign to the fishing hut is someone with a high survival skill.
In our case, we assigned Roland, one of the special NPC villagers, to the hut.
To have your villager start working, you’re going to need to access the management tab, click on the fishing hut, click on the hammer symbol, then increase or decrease the villager’s intensity level on the particular task you want them to perform.
In Roland’s case, we wanted him to go ham on just collecting fish meat.
We put 100% into using fishing spears to gather fish meat.
Obviously, this means that if you want your villager to do work, then you’re going to need to give them the proper tools.
We need fishing spears in our case.

To make fishing spears, you’re going to need the smith unlocked.
You can also buy fishing spears from vendors.
To make a fishing spear, you’re going to need:
- 1 Stone
- 1 Log
- 1 Linen Thread
Make a bunch, then put the spears either in your Resource Storage or in the chest inside the fishing hut.
With the tools, Roland will start fishing.
Now, if you have fishing traps, then you’ll need to give your fishermen or women a knife.
They’ll use the knife to take the fish from the trap and turn it into meat.
How To Use Fishing Traps in Medieval Dynasty
Besides the fishing spear, you can also make traps.
Keep in mind that you can also fish yourself.
You don’t need a fishing hut if you want to take on the role of being a fisherman, yourself.
You can use the fishing spear or set fishing traps to collect fish.
There are three different fishing traps in Medieval Dynasty.

They’re based on size, so you have a small fishing trap, medium fishing trap, and large fishing trap.
Each one catches different fish, too.
The small fishing trap requires the following resources to make it:
- 2 Sticks
- 6 Linen Thread
Roach will spawn on the small fishing trap.
These are the smallest types of fish in the game, and they only produce one unit of meat per fish.
Medium fishing traps require the following resources:
- 2 Sticks
- 9 Linen Thread
Perch spawn in medium fishing traps, and they will provide you with 4 fish meat per fish.
The final trap is the large fishing trap and it requires the following resources:
- 2 Sticks
- 12 Linen Thread
Since it’s the largest, the large fishing trap can catch the largest fish in the game, Pike.
Each Pike can give you 7 fish meat per fish, so they’re definitely the ones to catch.
Much like the rabbit trap in the game, each trap only has three uses before you have to make a new one.
As such, the traps can be quite expensive if you don’t have a very large flax field in which to make linen thread.
You also don’t need to put the trap in a spawn location for fish.
All you need to do is put the fishing trap anywhere in the water for a fish to spawn in it.
You can keep your traps as close to the shallows as you want and still catch Pike, for example.
Conclusion
Fish can be a useful way of keeping your villagers fed or adding an extra source of income.
If you want to make the most of your efforts, then you might want to focus on making large fishing traps to catch Pike.
