To craft most buildings in Wild West Dynasty, you need logs.

Logs can be hard to come by if you don’t live in the woods, so setting up a sawmill can give you easy access to all the logs you could need.

In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to build a sawmill in Wild West Dynasty.

Find a Wood Resource Area

The first step to build a sawmill is to find an area where you can actually build it.

There are specific resource areas scattered across the map.

They’re not always obvious.

To find one for wood, you should walk through the wooded areas and forests.

Eventually, you’ll see a banner fly across the top of your screen with a sawmill symbol.

You can also refer to these locations on your map later.

This indicates that this is an area where you can cut down trees and source logs.

Unlock the Sawmill on the Manager’s Tech Tree

Before you can build the sawmill, you need to unlock it.

Head to the Technology menu and look for the Manager’s Tech Tree.

You’ll find the sawmill on the first node at the top of the tree.

You’ll notice that this node also includes the stone mine.

If you’ve already built the stone mine, then this step is already taken care of for you.

If you haven’t, then you’re going to need three tech points to unlock this node.

To do so, you’ll need to craft some items.

I just crafted a bunch of stone axes until I had enough points to unlock the node.

With the node unlocked, you’re then able to build the sawmill.

How To Build The Sawmill

To build the sawmill, you’re going to need to take out your hammer.

With your hammer equipped, press the “B” button to get to the building menu.

You’ll need to navigate to Production, then Sawmill.

With the foundation ready to set down, look for a flat area that suits your needs.

Put it down with a left-click, and you’ll see that you need 10 planks and 12 logs to build it.

Simply hammer those resources in to the foundation.

Once it has what it needs, the sawmill will pop into existence.

You’re then able to enter your Management tab to activate it.
