If you want new tools and weapons, then you’re going to need to either repair or build a forge.
The forge allows you to make more advanced items that can help you survive the deep dark of Moria.
In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to repair or build a forge and craft an item with it in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.
If you want to see how this process is done, then be sure to watch the video below!
Rebuild or Build a Forge To Start Creating
Depending on your outpost, you may or may not have a broken forge.
If you have a broken forge, then you can repair it for three iron ingots.

If the area doesn’t have a broken forge, then you’re going to need to build one from scratch.
To do so, you’re going to need five iron ingots.
If you’re not seeing an option to build a new forge in your Building Menu, then you need to repair one first.
This will unlock the blueprint.
It’s obviously cheaper to repair a forge than to build a brand one, so plan accordingly.
You’re also going to need to build a stone hearth in the area.
Crafting benches won’t work without a stone hearth nearby.
How To Use the Forge in Return to Moria
Using the forge, much like any other crafting station, requires resources.
You can click on the forge to see the different crafting recipes that you have.
When you click on a recipe, it will show you what resources you need to make it.

Gather those resources, then return to the forge.
You’re also going to need coal to fire up the forge.
If you don’t have the resources in your inventory, but you do have them on a resource pallet or nearby wooden chest, then the forge can take those items from those areas.
You don’t need to put everything in your inventory just to craft something.
Once you have all you need, click on the “Craft” button, and the forge will start working.
You may need to wait a few seconds for the item to finish.
Grab it when it’s done, and you have yourself a new item from the forge.
