How Do You Open a Muznaken Chest in Return to Moria
To open a muznaken chest in Return to Moria, you’re going to need to find figurines that match the chest.
In particular, you’re looking for figurines that belong that specific chest’s family line.
The first muznaken chest you’ll come across belongs to Ori’s family.

So, you’ll find to find other figurine carvings that belong to Ori’s family.
Each chest also requires a certain number of these figurines.
In Ori’s case, you’re going to need to find five.
Once you have all five, you can return to the chest and put them on top of it.
It will unlock the chest and you’ll be able to grab your reward.
Where Can You Find Muznaken Carvings in Return to Moria
In order to unlock muznaken chests, you’re going to need to go on a scavenger hunt.
Muznaken carvings can technically spawn anywhere, but there are a few places where they tend to spawn more often.
You can find them inside abandoned shops and other buildings within the mines.

They’re often hiding in corners, on top of boxes, and even on tables.
You can also find them near repairable statues.
They’ll be sitting close by on the ground or on a wall close to the statue.
When you speak to Alric in Westgate about the vents spewing the Shadow Curse, it’s also sometimes possible to find these carvings in that room.
You may need to break down some of the palisade walls to access the side of the room to look.
They’re small and sometimes match the color of the stone around them, so take your time and look hard to spot them.
What Does a Muznaken Chest Have Inside It
Considering you have to go on a scavenger’s hunt to find carvings to open the muznaken chest, you might be wondering if all the effort is worth the reward.
If you care about riches and recipes, then it certainly is.
Once you find all the carvings you need, you can interact with the chest and place the carvings on it.

You then have the option to open it.
Inside, you’ll typically find coin, gemstones, and recipes for new crafting items.
You might find a helmet recipe or even a recipe for a new weapon.
Gather everything and keep an eye out for another muznaken chest, so you can grab its rewards, too.
