Torches play a vital role in The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria.

Without them, you might end up in darkness and suffer the consequences of Despair.

In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to craft the Zarok torch in Return to Moria.

You can find true quartz along the rim of the hole that leads down to the Lower Depths.

You’ll find this area in the section of mines located after the Elven Quarter.

You’ll know you’re in the right area if you see an elevator that needs repairing.

There are a few nodes along the top that you can harvest with a steel pickaxe.

Make sure you harvest at least 16 true quartz or just harvest all the nodes while you’re there.

The Zarok torch is Mastercraft item which means it’s pretty expensive to make.

To craft it, you’ll need the following the resources:

  • 1 Steel Ingot
  • 15 True Quartz
  • 4 Wood Scraps
  • 1 Hide

You can make steel ingots from iron ore after repairing the Great Forge of Narvi.

Wood scraps are easy to come by, and you’ll be able to harvest hide from hunting down certain creatures.

Once you have all those items, return to the Great Forge of Narvi and use it to forge the Zarok Torch.

The Zarok Torch is a Masterwork item in Return to Moria.

As a Masterwork item, it doesn’t have a durability.

It’s able to last forever.

It also sheds bright light and when unequipped, will sit in a holder on your backpack to offer light, too.

It’s a great tool to use when exploring at night or in dark caves.

Keep in mind that since it’s a Masterwork item, you can only equip it if you don’t have any other Masterwork items equipped.
