Leather is an important resource in Sengoku Dynasty that helps you craft bows, seed bags, and a number of other items.

Since leather isn’t an item that drops from animals, you’re going to have to craft it yourself.

In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to make leather in Sengoku Dynasty.

Be sure to watch the video below to see the full process in detail.

Before you can craft leather, you’re going to need to unlock the crafting station that lets you make it.

To do so, you’ll want to start up the Wild Hogs questline.

You can start the quest by making your way to the town, Segi.

When you arrive, you’ll discover that the town is all about woodworking and hunting.

Speak with a few villagers o learn about Segi and its involvement with the rebellion against the Shogun.

Eventually, you’ll find someone who mentions a bowmaker named Fujiuchi.

Speak with him, and he’ll give you the task to hunt down an animal to collect one fur.

To get the fur, you’ll need to make sure you have a certain skill unlocked.

Head to your skill page and navigate to the “Warrior” section.

Unlock the perk called “Fur Hunter” which lets you harvest fur when you skin an animal.

Then head into the woods, hunt an animal, and collect at least one piece of fur to give to Fujuichi.

He’ll be pleased with your performance and unlock two new crafting recipes.

You’ll unlock the half bow, which is a great starter weapon, and the tanning vat.

It’s the tanning vat which lets you turn fur into leather.

Head back to your village and make the tanning vat in your tailor’s workbench.

Once you’re back at your village, it’s time to build the tanning vat.

Equip your hammer and go to the “Furniture” building section.

Then go to “Production” and “Tailor’s Workshop.”

You should see a tanning vat as one of the recipes you can make in the tailor’s workshop.

To build the tanning vat, you’re going to need the following resources:

  • 10 Clay
  • 10 Stone

Hammer in each resource until it’s complete.

Now that you have the vat ready, you can start the leather-making process.

To make leather in Sengoku Dynasty, you’re going to need three main ingredients.

These include:

  • Fur
  • Water
  • Bark

Water is easy to collect.

You just need to make some planks, craft buckets, and then fill them with water in a well.

Bark you can harvest when you turn logs into planks.

You can also sometimes harvest bark when hitting small trees.

Fur you can gather by hunting or by using hare cages.

Hare cages have a chance to drop fur, so it’s not always guaranteed.

If you want to increase your chances, then build a few hare cages.

You can also have your hunter in the hunting lodge gather fur while hunting.

When you have at least one ingredient for each resource, put them in the vat.

It takes a bit to turn the fur into leather, but you should have a good supply in no time provided you have enough resources.
