How To Unlock the Roasting Pit Blueprint in Return to Moria
Depending on when you craft the First Age Pickaxe, you may unlock the roasting pit quite early in the game.
All you need to do to unlock the roasting pit recipe is harvest and pick up either silver ore or ihraz granite.
Both unlock the blueprint.
The good news is that you can also gather both silver ore and ihraz granite at the same time.
They’re part of the same vein.
Much like when you harvest iron ore and get stone with it, you’re going to get ihraz granite when you mine for silver ore.
You do need a Tier III pickaxe, however, so you’re going to need to make the First Age Pickaxe, at least.
When you have the blueprint unlocked, it’s time to make it.
How To Make the Roasting Pit in Return to Moria

Now, while the roasting pit isn’t the most expensive build in the game, it does require an expensive resource.
Silver ore may not be in great abundance when you first obtain the ability to harvest it.
So, you may need to build up your stocks before making the roasting pit.
To craft the roasting pit, you’ll need the following resources:
- 3 Silver Ingots
- 10 Ihraz Granite
- 6 Resin
- 24 Wood Scraps
Ihraz granite will be easy to harvest since it’s basically part of any Tier III ore like precious gems and silver ore.
So, you’ll be able to get a lot of it.
Resin is also quite common, although you may need to travel a bit deeper into the Lower Deeps to find it.
Wood scraps is a common resource.
It’s only silver ore that you may initially struggle with, but that all depends on how the mine shafts randomly generate for you.
The gods may favor you and give you tons of silver ore veins.
Or, if they’re like mine, they might make silver ore scarce.
Either way, you’ll need to travel into the Lower Deeps to find it.
Once you have everything you need, you can craft the roasting pit and place it anywhere you like.
Why You Should Make the Roasting Pit in Return to Moria

The roasting pit can unlock a slew of new food recipes for you to cook.
As soon as you put down the pit, three recipes become unlocked.
They include:
- Helm-Fried Chips
- Fire-Roasted Stew
- Glazed Meat Skewer
All these foods give you the Stuffed buff, which is important for large parties and traveling.
The Stuffed buff basically keeps your hunger from dropping while its active.
You’ll become hungrier later in the day.
That means you don’t have to worry about bringing snacks along with you to keep you fed.
It can be difficult to keep a large party of dwarves fed, so eating foods that make your hunger last longer means you won’t be dipping into the food resources as much.
For solo players, it also helps prevent you from emptying out your food resources.
If you’re like me and enjoy cooking in games, then the roasting pit gives you some new foods to try out and enjoy.
Since all the foods also boost your health and stamina, crafting the roasting pit and using it can prove advantageous.
