If you want to get your hands on a weapon that delivers heavy damage, then you’ll need to head to the Lower Deeps.

It’s a dangerous area packed with enemies small and large.

To unlock the First Age Greatsword recipe, you’ll need to repair the statues that you find in the Lower Deeps.

It takes 20 stone to do so, but you’ll only need your steel hammer.

There are tons of statues scattered about the Lower Deeps, and each one has a chance of dropping a recipe fragment.

For the First Age Greatsword, you’ll need two recipe fragments to complete the set.

So, you’ll need to repair at least two statues, but more likely, you’ll need to repair several since any statue can potentially drop a recipe fragment.

Keep repairing the statues until you have the recipe unlocked.

You can craft the First Age Greatsword in the forge.

The recipe requires the following resources:

  • 5 Silver Ingots
  • 1 Ruby
  • 4 Ubasam Wood
  • 1 Leather

It takes a few silver ingots to make this sword, so you may need to go out and harvest some ore with a Tier III pickaxe.

Rubies you can collect from orcs in the Lower Deeps, or by taking out their outposts and unlocking the chest within them.

Leather is a material you can make in the loom with some hide.

Once you have all your resources, you can craft the First Age Greatsword in your forge.

First Age Greatsword Stats

The First Age Greatsword is a Tier III weapon that does slashing damage to an enemy.

Because of its size, you can hit enemies at a greater distance from you.

Because it’s a sword, you’re also able to hit several enemies at once.

If you focus on a single enemy, then you can do more damage against them.

The Greatsword also has a Charged attack.

When charged, you can swing the greatsword in great arcs all around you, basically hitting everyone at once.

I find the Greatsword useful for when fighting in sieges or at an outpost.

Any time the enemies are all around me, the First Age Greatsword can fight them all at once.
