Now and then, you may notice an odd structure around Shadow vents in Return to Moria.

Durin’s Lamps can make navigating sections of the mines easier, but you’ll need to repair them to make them work.

In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to repair Durin’s Lamps in Return to Moria and explain how they work.

What Are Durin’s Lamps in Return to Moria

Durin’s Lamps are broken lights typically situated neared Shadow vents.

They’re not always present, but you can sometimes spot them near the end of the Lower Deeps section.

After repairing them, you can sing to activate the lamp.

They’ll make the Shadow dissipated for a span of time.

You’ll have to keep singing at the light if you want to proceed through the area in the future.

Because of this, I always recommend building a platform of wooden ramps to the lamp, if possible, to activate them.

That way you don’t have to wade through Shadow just to sing to the light.

Once you activate the lamp, you’re able to walk in the area without worrying about becoming cursed by the Shadow.

How To Repair Durin’s Lamps in Return to Moria

You’ll need two resources to repair Durin’s Lamps.

They include:

• 3 True Quartz
• 10 Ihraz Granite

True Quartz can be found throughout the Lower Deeps, so make sure you harvest some while you can.

Ihraz granite is also plentiful in the Lower Deeps.

You can gather it as you collect ore.

You’ll also need at least a steel hammer to repair the lamps.

Once you’ve repaired the lamp, there’s still one more step to activate them.

You need to sing.

Simply get close enough to the repaired lamp to get the ‘Sing’ option.

Your dwarf will start singing, and by the end of the song, the lamp will turn on.

Once the lamp is on, the Shadow will start to disappear, allowing you to move around the area with ease.

Keep in mind that any time you travel to this area again, especially after sleeping, you’ll need to sing to the lamp to activate it again.
