Where is Balin’s Akhfur Chest

To find Balin’s chest, you’ll need to head to the Dwarrowdelf region of Moria.

His chest lies in a small room through the winding halls.

Since the chest can spawn anywhere in Dwarrowdelf, you’ll typically want to look for it before you reach the city of Dwarrowdelf.

It spawns most often between the Bridge of Khazad-dûm and the city of Dwarrowdelf.

There should be a number of artifacts in the room, too.

How To Open Balin’s Chest

Interact with the chest when you find it, and you’ll pick up a quest to make a key.

You’ll receive the recipe for Balin’s key.

Head back to your forge and make sure you have the right resources for it.

To make Balin’s key, you’ll need the following resources:

• 2 Khazad Steel Ingots

If you don’t have Khazad Steel Ingots yet, the good news is they’re easy to find.

You can defeat orcs and Uruks within Dwarrowdelf and loot their chests.

There are typically some Khazad steel ingots in them.

What’s Inside Balin’s Chest in Return to Moria

Balin’s chest holds quite a few treasures and also kicks off the quest for the fourth axe fragment for Durin’s axe.

In regards to treasures, you’ll receive the following from the chest:

• 10 Adamant
• 4 Khazad Steel Ingots
• 5 Resin

There will also be a note about the location of the fourth axe fragment.
