Why walk when a mount can get you there faster?

Whether you want to run, jump, or climb, there are some Pals, even at the start of the game, that can make navigation easier.

In this survival guide, we’ll take a look at the top five early-game mounts in Palworld.

The Quick Menu

Take a look at the five best early-game mounts in Palworld and what they excel at.

Best for Speed:Direhowl
Best for Agility:Eikthydeer
Best for Flying:Nitewing
Best for Utility:Rushoar
Best for Attack:Chillet

1. Best for Speed – Direhowl

The Direhowl is a great beginning mount in the game because of its speed.

One of its Partner Skills, or passive skills, is that it’s naturally faster than most other Pals.

Even when compared to some other mid-tier Pals, the Direhowl can beat them on speed.

They’re also decent in fights when first starting out, so if you’re in a tough spot, you can either attack or run away with the knowledge that you can likely escape safely.

2. Best for Agility – Eikthydeer

Some people like to run and some people like to jump.

For those who like to jump over mountains instead of flying over them or running around them, I present to you the Eikthydeer.

There are definitely other, better, mounts with incredible jumping abilities, but this is the early-game.

And when it comes to early-game jumping, the Eikthyrdeer is king.

It’s able to do a double jump which can launch you up in the air at a considerable height.

You’ll be able to tackle most mountains with this Pal between your legs.

3. Best for Flying – Nitewing

Admittedly, there’s only one flying Pal for beginner levels in Palworld, and that’s Nitewing.

Even though he’s the only option, he’s still a good one.

Nitewing can be pretty tough and has some decent moves, too.

You’ll be able to soar across the map a bit safer with him as a mount.

Since he’s also a capable fighter, you’ll be able to clear out beginner areas with ease from above.

4. Best for Utility – Rushoar

Not every Pal is going to be blasting away your enemies.

Some are good for mundane tasks.

That’s the case for Rushoar, which, when ridden, can destroy boulders and get you stone.

Rushoar isn’t the best miner by a long shot, but for early-game players, it can be a great way to get around the map while also bringing home a lot of stone.

And believe me, getting a lot of stone as early as possible can help you down the road.

5. Best for Attacking – Chillet

Yes, Chillet counts as an early-game Pal, since we’re looking at levels between 1 and 10 based on saddles you can unlock.

Chillet comes a few levels before Nitewing, in fact.

The reason we love Chillet as a great mounted attacker is that it can deal two types of damage.

Dragon and ice can take care of a lot of Pals at once.

Even better, there’s a relatively low-level Boss Chillet that you can tame and use as your mount.

It has even better stats than a normal Chillet, so it’s worth taking down as soon as you can.

Not sure how?

Follow our Chillet boss guide here for some tips.

Chillet will keep you safe while you navigate through the starter areas of the map.
