Food plays an important part in Nightingale.

Not only will it keep your character from starving to death, but it can also impact how much health and stamina they have.

In this survival guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know about food in Nightingale.

Food has two major uses in Nightingale.

The first is to keep your character full.

Since it’s a survival game, you have to worry about things like food and rest.

Nightingale keeps it simple though.

You only need to eat to fill your hunger bar.

You don’t have to worry about different aspects of hunger like other survival games sometimes have.

If you let your hunger drop down too low, then your health will start to go down.

It’s possible to starve to death, and even become weak, so make sure you have food on hand.

The other major use that food has is buffing.

Much like Valheim and Enshrouded, food can give you more health and stamina for a limited time.

The more advanced food you make, the better buff you receive.

You can use food strategically before a big fight or before entering a certain biome to help better survive the encounter.

There are several ingredients that you can collect throughout Nightingale.

The most basic of food is berries and mushrooms.

You can collect these out in the wild and eat them to restore some hunger.

They’re basically snacks.

There’s also meat that you can collect from predator and prey creatures out there in the various biomes.

For those who like to fish, you can also craft a fishing pole and spend time fishing.

With the various ingredients, you can use a cooking pot to make cooked meals.

Meat, for example, is best eaten cooked.

It provides more of a meal than berries on their own, for example.

How To Cook Food in Nightingale

You’ll cook food in a campfire, which unlocks early in the game.

You just need to add fuel, and then decide what you want to make based on the ingredients you have on hand.

There are also ways to augment or upgrade the campfire.

Once the campfire is augmented, it can unlock new cooking recipes.

The more advanced the meal is, the better it can fill your hunger and offer a better buff.

Cooking may seem like an afterthought, but it shouldn’t be.

It can make surviving the Feywilds a bit easier.
