The rope gun and cross are two vital tools that can make living on the island easier.

In order to get both, you’re going to need to brave through a cave filled with mutants.

In this survival guide, we’ll show you where to get the rope gun and cross in Sons of the Forest.

Preparing for the Rope Gun Cave

Before you dive into the cave, it’s a good idea to prepare for the dangers inside.

You’re going to come across numerous mutants in this cave.

You’ll face enemies like Fingers, Puffies, Babies, and a few others.

There’s a lot of them, too.

If you plan on fighting through the cave, then you’re going to want to stock up on ammo.

Having some grenades, molotovs, and explosives is also helpful.

Stock up on medicine and other healing herbs, too.

It’s pretty dark in the cave as well, so you may want to grab the flashlight and some batteries to make it easier to see.

It’s also possible to run through the cave without fighting anyone.

If you’re solo, then I suggest just running since this cave will eat through your valuable ammo stock.

If you’re planning to run, then you should still bring a flashlight, batteries, and some medicine.

You’re also going to need a few grenades, at least, for one part of the cave.

Now that you’re equipped, it’s time to enter the cave.

Rope Gun Cave Location in Sons of the Forest

The rope gun cave, which is where you’re also find the cross, is at the center of the map.

You’ll find it south of the 3D printer bunker near a stream.

There are a few crates outside the cave, so open them up to see if you can find anything useful.

The cave is also boarded up, likely because of all the mutants inside.

You’ll need to use your axe to chop the boards down to access the cave.

Cross Location in Sons of the Forest

When you enter the cave, you’ll have a brief opening that’s safe.

As soon as you go beyond that opening, however, mutants are everywhere.

The big opening you enter after you first enter the cave is where you’ll find the cross.

It has quite a few mutants, so you’re going to want to run to avoid most of them.

Hug the right wall of the cave and go towards a light at the back of the cave.

The light is illuminating the cross.

Grab it and continue to follow the right wall until it leads to you an opening deeper into the cave.

Rope Gun Location in Sons of the Forest

Once you leave the part of the cave with the cross, you’re going to head down a narrow hallway.

It inclines slightly and one half has some water running down it.

When you reach the top of this hallway, you’ll find that your entrance is blocked by a big blob mutant.

The only way to proceed is to blow it up.

Throw a grenade at it, let it explode, then go through the opening it was blocking.

At this point, you’re going to have a lot of cave to run through.

Now and then you’ll see some lights leading your way.

Avoid the small dead ends since they don’t have anything too important aside from resources.

While you’re running, or killing, keep an eye out for lore.

There are a few emails and other documents to find along the way.

There’s also a cave drawing near some hanging bodies that you might find interesting.

Otherwise, continue to run through the cave, until you reach an area filled with bloody bones and parts.

You’re nearing the end of the cave.

At this point, you may need to fight a few monsters because picking up the rope gun leads to a very long animation of your character inspecting it.

You might become attacked during that time.

Simply throw a few grenades, then run to the edge of a cliff.

You’ll see a rope above you leading you down to the other side of the cliff.

Don’t take it yet.

Below the rope, sitting in a case, is the rope gun.

Grab it, then slide across the rope to the other side.

You don’t want to slow down here either.

There’s a mutant here that will kill you.

Keep running up the path until you get to the cave’s exist.

You now have the cross and rope gun in your inventory.
