In order to make new tools, weapons, and other items, you’re going to need a smithy.
Unlike other games where you level and unlock new buildings and technologies, Sengoku Dynasty requires you to complete certain quests.
In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to unlock and build the smithy in Sengoku Dynasty.

How To Unlock the Smithy Blueprint in Sengoku Dynasty
You’re going to need to progress to a certain part of the main quest in Sengoku Dynasty to gain access to the smithy.
In particular, you’ll need to complete the quest which requires you to find and speak to an onibaba.
Afterward, you’ll receive a quest to visit several villages where you can learn new technologies.
Head to Iwasaki where you’ll learn iron working.
The village of Iwasaki is all the way on the east side of the map.

You come to learn that Iwasaki is a major player in the iron industry.
Speak with a villager in the town to push the quest forward.
They’ll prompt you to speak with the leader of the town.
Find the leader on top of a hill in a mansion and speak with him.

He won’t give you the information you need, but he does point you toward someone who can.
Head back down to the village to speak with An Dong.

You discover that he’s a slave looking to buy his freedom.
He’ll give you permission to head into the nearby mine and gather iron ore.
You’ll need to make a pickaxe to harvest iron ore, so access your Quick Craft menu and make one if you don’t have one already.
Then head into the mine and use your pickaxe to gather iron ore.
Once you have enough, return to An Dong.
He’ll then ask you to make five iron axes for him.
In the process, this will unlock a few recipes.

You’ll be able to craft the iron axe, the smithy, and the charcoal kiln.
You now have the smithy recipe, so you can return to your village and build it!
It’s also not a bad idea to harvest some more iron ore for your own personal use.
How To Build the Smithy in Sengoku Dynasty
Equip your hammer and open up the build menu.
You’ll need to navigate to the buildings section, then the production section to find the smithy.
Place it down where you want and start gathering your resources.
You’ll have a few sections to build including the blacksmith anvil, itself, which sits inside the building.

Here’s a breakdown of the building process and how much each step costs in terms of resources:
- Total:
- 17 Logs (Any)
- 36 Planks (Any)
- 12 Clay
- 47 Sticks
- 24 Planks (Conifer)
