Farming is a vital part of keeping your villagers fed and for making some money.
Sengoku Dynasty makes farming relatively hands-off, but there are a few things you can do to get the most from your fields.
In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to farm in Sengoku Dynasty.
To see how to farm and unlock farming recipes, watch the video below!
How To Unlock Farming Recipes in Sengoku Dynasty
You won’t be able to start farming until you have the land and water fields unlocked.
Head to Aratani, a farming village, and speak with a villager to learn more about the village.

I spoke to a councilwoman who told me about herself and how I might win some farmers to my village.
After speaking with the villager, you’ll gain some seed bags for free.
You’ll also have the land and water fields unlocked.
Build and Cultivate Your Fields
When you return to your village, equip your hammer to enter the build menu.
Navigate to Village Structures, then Farming to find the field recipes.
To make a land field, you’ll need one stick per square of the field.
To make a water field, you’ll need one clay and one stone per square of the field.

With the field down, you need to cultivate it, and you’ll need an iron hoe to do that.
To make the hoe, you’re going to need a smithy.
Head to your smithy and in the recipes, you’ll see one for the iron hoe.

To make the iron hoe, you’ll need 1 iron ore and 2 planks of any type.
Craft one in the smithy, then head back to your fields.
Equip the hoe, then simply click on each slot of the field to cultivate them.
You’ll know you’re doing it right if the squares become darker.
How To Sow Your Fields
You can sow your fields with seed bags.
Unlike other games with farming, you don’t have a specific quality that the bag holds.

Rather, it goes down in durability as you use it.
Once the durability reaches zero, you’re out of seeds.
Seed bags tend to last a long time, so you can plant a few large fields with one bag.
Take a look at the bag when sowing to ensure that you can sow the seed in the given season.
If so, equip it, and then interact with the different field slots to sow them.
You’ll know a slot has been planted if you see white seeds scattered across its surface.
How To Make Your Crops Grow Faster in Sengoku Dynasty
There are two methods you can use to make your crops grow faster in Sengoku Dynasty.
This is helpful because it allows you to have multiple harvests every season.
You can expand just how much money or food you make.
Take a look at the two methods below to make your crops in Sengoku Dynasty grow fast.
How To Water Crops in Sengoku Dynasty

The first is by watering the crops.
Only land fields need watering.
Rain also counts as watering, so nature might do the work for you.
To water your crops on your own, you’re going to need a water bucket.
You’ll need a woodworker building to make the water bucket.
Access the bench, and if you click the three dots on the top left in the crafting menu, you’ll see the bucket.
To make a watering bucket, you’ll need 1 bucket and 50 water.
And that means you’re going to need to make some regular buckets first.
A bucket takes 1 plank of any type with 1 stick to make.
Make five buckets, and then fill them with water in a well.
Then go back to the woodcutter’s hut to make your watering bucket.
Once you have it, you’ll have a bucket ready to water your plants.
Much like the steps beforehand, interact with each square to water them.
How To Fertilize Your Fields
Now, while only the land field wants water, both the land and water fields want fertilizing.
Fertilizing your fields helps them grow faster, too.
To fertilize, you’re going to need to make a composting station.
Equip your wooden hammer and navigate to Village Structures, Farming, and then you’ll see the composting station.
It will take 10 planks of any type, 5 sticks, and 5 rot.
Hammer those resources into place, and you have a crafting station.
You’ll then need to put 100 pieces of rot into the station to turn it into fertilizer.
To take the fertilizer and distribute it amongst your fields, you need to craft the fertilizer bucket.
You can get rot from the food that spoils over time, so don’t get rid of it.
To make the fertilizer bucket, you’ll need 1 bucket and 50 fertilizer.
Then just spread the fertilizer in each square like you did with the water.

As a quick addition, you should also weed your fields in Sengoku Dynasty to ensure you receive maximum harvests each time.
