The Great Forge of Narvi is an important location and crafting station during your time in the Mines of Moria.
It unlocks a number of new weapons and tools including the steel pickaxe which you need to proceed into the mines.
In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to repair the Great Forge of Narvi in Return to Moria.
To see the repair for yourself, be sure to watch the video below!
1. Find the Great Forge of Narvi
You can’t repair anything until you’ve found the Great Forge, itself.

The good news is that it’s easy to find.
Head to the Elven Quarter.
From the entrance to the Elven Quarter, you’ll need to head straight forward to the back.
You should see some stairs leading up to it.
There’s likely a few Goblin-Men camps along the way, so clear them out as you go.
When you reach the top of the stairs, you should enter a darkened room with a cold forge.
You’ve discovered the Great Forge of Narvi.
2. Replace or Craft the Broken Pieces on the Forge
There are three broken pieces that you need to repair on the forge.
Find the replacement parts for these pieces and put them back in place.
That will repair the forge and bring it to life.
The three pieces you need include:
- Replacement Crank
- Replacement Gear
- Replacement Pipe
Each piece can spawn in a slightly different area, but the crank and gear are inside the forge area with you.

The crank is usually close to the device used to control the forge.

The gear is usually on the left side of the forge near the broken gear.
The pipe, on the other hand, is outside the forge.
You’re going to need to head down the stairs where a Goblin-Men camp is waiting.
Clear the camp out if you haven’t already.

You’ll find the replacement pipe on the left side of the camp as you leave the forge.
Pick it up and bring it all the way to the forge.
You’ll encounter another problem, too.
The stairs leading up to the pipe is broken.
I like to make a wooden platform and attach it to the far side of the broken stairs, then throw the pipe onto it.
You can throw items by pressing the “R” key.
Replace the pipe as needed and the forge will roar to life.
3. Prepare for the Horde
Unfortunately, all that noise has attracted a lot of attention.

You’re going to have to defeat wave after wave of enemies.
It’s okay if you die.
Just remember to go back to the area and pick up your dropped items.
To survive the horde, you’ll want the best weapons you can get at that point.
It helps to have a shield, too, and some armor.
If you have some Lembas bread, then keep it in one of your slots, so you can eat it when your health is low.
It can restore your health.

Whether you defeat the horde or not, return to the forge to collect any dropped loot and access the forge, itself, to see the new items you can craft.
