If you want to survive the challenging dangers awaiting you in the Lower Deeps, then you’re going to need advanced gear.
The loom is a crafting station that allows you to craft materials needed to make that advanced gear.
In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to unlock and craft the loom in Return to Moria.

How To Unlock the Loom in Return to Moria
If you don’t have the recipe for the loom yet, then you’ll need to head down into the Lower Deeps.
You can arrive there by fixing the mine hoist that takes you to the top of the Crystal Descent.
It’s a dangerous climb down, and I recommend bringing along a lot of wood scraps and natural fiber to create quick platforms.
When you finally reach the bottom, look for large fungi.
These are trees that will give you ubasam wood when you cut them down.
As soon as you pick up ubasam wood for the first time, you’ll receive the blueprint for the loom.
You can now return to your base and make it!
How To Build the Loom in Return to Moria

While you’re down in the Lower Deeps, it’s not a bad idea to stock up.
The trees only drop a handful of wood pieces, so you’ll need to make the most of your trips down there.
You’ll also need a good amount of ubasam wood to make the loom.
Here are the resources you’ll need to make the loom:
- 24 Ubasam Wood
- 3 Silver Ingots
- 6 Cloth Scraps
Ubasam wood is in the Lower Deeps.
It’s also where you can find a good amount of silver.
Silver ore is a light grey color and spawns in veins similar to other types of ore like iron and copper.
You’ll need a Tier III pickaxe to harvest silver, however, so you’ll need to forge something like the First Age Pickaxe.
Cloth scraps are easy to find.
Just keep an eye on the ground while you’re traveling from point A to point B.
Once you have everything you need, access your build menu, then set it somewhere in your base.
You’ll notice as soon as you place it that a few recipes become unlocked.
Loom Unlockables – Materials for Advanced Gear
Three recipes will drop when you set the loom down for the first time.
They include:
- Numenorean Cloth
- Leather
- Hide
The hide recipe, in particular, is incredible.
It allows you to take hide scraps and resin and turn them into hide.
No longer will you have to kill innocent deer or goats to get your hands on their precious hide.
You can make it from the hundreds of hide scraps that you likely have now.
I know I certainly have a near-chest-full of hide scraps just waiting to become hide.
As for the other materials, you can be sure you’ll need them soon to make high-tier gear and weapons soon.
So, craft your loom and prepare for the next level of gear to see you safely out of Moria.
