How To Unlock Shanor Ingots in Return to Moria

Shanor ingots are craftable resources, but you’re going to need to jump through some hoops to unlock them.
The first is to cross the water and reach the Great Pumps in the Lower Deeps.
On the way, you’ll encounter a Watcher in the Water.
This is one tough boss fight, so if you’re not ready to fight it yet, don’t worry.
There are other ways of acquiring Shanor ingots.
That said, if you feel up to the challenge, then you can fight the Watcher in the Water and defeat it.
Continue to cross the water to get the pump station.
Once there, you’ll discover the Great Forge of Belegost.
You’ll need to repair it.
Once you repair it, a few recipes will drop including the recipe to make Shanor ingots.
How To Make Shanor Ingots in Return to Moria
If you’ve done the impossible and slayed the Watcher in the Water and repaired the Great Forge of Belegost, then you can craft Shanor ingots.
You can craft them either in the Great Forge or in your own furnace at your base.
The crafting recipe runs:
- 3 Copper Ore
- 3 Iron Ore
- 3 Silver Ore
With those items in stock, you can smelt the ores into a Shanor ingot.
Obviously, this is the fastest way to craft Shanor ingots, but there are other methods if you’re not ready to fight the Watcher in the Water yet.
Where To Get Shanor Ingots in Return to Moria

There are two other methods you can use to get Shanor ingots in Return to Moria.
They require a bit more luck, however, than just crafting them yourself.
One of the ways is to fight orcs during a siege or out in the caves.
Orcs have a chance of dropping Shanor ingots after you kill them.
I find that it’s the orcs that lay siege to your base that are more likely to drop the ingot than those in the caves.
Since it’s a random chance, you may have to go through a few sieges before one finally drops a Shanor ingot.
Another method is to find a orc outpost in the Lower Deeps.
This is a small structure with a wooden palisade and a totem in the middle.
Clear out the orcs and destroy the totem to get the orc key.
Then unlock the chest inside the outpost.
You should see a Shanor ingot inside it.
Again, some of these chests spawn random items, so you may not get lucky.
Outposts don’t return either, unless an Earthquake happens, so you’ll only be able to get your hands on a few ingots in this way.
Still, when I opened a chest, I found three Shandor ingots inside, so it can get you started.
Otherwise, you’ll need to hope an orc drops an ingot after a siege or face the Watcher in the Water to repair the Great Forge of Belegost.
Why You Should Hunt for Shanor Ingots in Return to Moria
So, what’s the big deal with Shanor ingots, anyway?
Well, when you pick up an ingot, you receive a recipe for the Ironwood Pickaxe.
The pickaxe is a Tier IV item, so it’s going to allow you to harvest even rarer ore veins.
You’ll need Shanor ingots to build the pickaxe, too, so you’ll need to gather or craft enough to make the pickaxe.
Considering you’ll need to either have a lot of sieges or face the Watcher in the Water, it’s one tough ingot to get your hands on.
Good luck; you’ll need it.
