The Great Forge of Belegost is going to be your go-to forge for a while to make new types of armor and weapons.

But when you first discover the forge, you’ll find it in disrepair.

In this survival guide, we’ll show you how to repair the Great Forge of Belegost in Return to Moria and what it unlocks.

Where is the Great Forge of Belegost

If you’ve picked up some recipes that require the Great Forge of Belegost, you may wonder when you’re going to encounter it.

The Great Forge of Belegost is in Lower Deeps.

You won’t be able to access the forge first thing, however.

You’ll discover that the forge is actually under water.

You’ll first need to repair the Great Drain Pipes, which you’ll also find while exploring the Lower Deeps.

Once you’ve cleared out the water, you’ll be able to enter the forge area.

The Great Forge of Belegost typically lies on the Pilgrim Road, which you’ll be following anyway to progress the game.

Once you can access the forge, you’ll find that it needs repairing.

While draining the water in the Great Forge area might be difficult, repairing it is actually easy.

There are three sections that you need to repair.

Since you’ve repaired the Great Forge of Narvi before this, you’ll find the process similar.

You need to find the following parts:

  • Gear
  • Crank
  • Pipe

You’ll find them relatively close to the area that needs fixing.

Simply pick up the replacement part and carry it to the broken section.

Then interact with the broken section to fit the replacement part in it.

Once all the parts have been replaced, the Forge will come to life.

The Great Forge of Belegost unlocks two new recipes after you repaired it.

The first is the recipe for the Shanor Ingot.

Since you need Shanor Ingots to make new items, weapons, and armor, it’s useful to have this recipe unlocked.

You no longer have to rely on orcs dropping it when you defeat them in battle.

The second recipe the forge unlocks is the Belegost Halberd.

This is a Tier III, two-handed, weapon that can deliver tons of damage to your foes.

With the forge repaired, you can also use it to craft new weapons and armor.

Start preparing for the next section of the mines with the Great Forge of Belegost.

You’re going to need it.
