How To Unlock the Hanging Trap in Palworld

The hanging trap unlocks at level 4 in Palworld.

That makes it one of the earliest structures that you can build in the game.

That’s good since it tends to be an early-game way to catch Pals.

The question becomes whether you should build it or not.

You’ll find the hanging trap blueprint in the Defense section of your build menu.

To build it, you’ll need the following resources:

  • 10 Wood
  • 5 Stone

It’s a rather inexpensive structure, which is good because it’s also a one-off.

Any time you want to use the hanging trap again, you have to make a new one.

And that leads us to what the hanging trap actually does.

What Should You Use the Hanging Trap for in Palworld

The hanging trap catches any small Pal or human that passes over the trigger.

It holds them there, allowing you to take down their health to either defeat or capture them.

After capturing or defeating the Pal or human, the trap breaks.

You need to make a new one if you want it there.

So, what is the hanging trap good for?

For beginners, it’s great at collecting Pals easily for you to capture.

It may even capture your first Pal.

Since the Pal hangs there loosely, it isn’t going to fight you back.

So, for beginners, the hanging trap might be useful.

It’s also useful for defense.

You can strategically place hanging traps in key areas where enemies tend to walk.

You’ll be able to capture a few, who you can then easily defeat.

Finally, it’s helpful for Pal Enhancement.

You likely don’t want to waste time catching a bunch of the same Pals just to enhance one of your Pals.

The hanging trap can do that for you.

Place it in strategic places, then come back and see if it’s caught what you needed.

You can then take the Pal and store it away for when you’re ready to enhance one of your Pals.

Now, if you’re not doing any of those things or don’t have an interest in them, then the hanging trap really isn’t worth it.

The fact that you have to remake it every time it’s used is a bit annoying.

It also doesn’t catch Medium or Large Pals, which makes it only useful for some Pals.

The Hanging Trap can be great for very specific uses, but it certainly isn’t necessary for those either.
