You only need a standard forge to craft the ironwood pickaxe.

However, that forge does need the gem cutter upgrade station.

In terms of resources, you’ll need the following items:

  • 3 Shanor Ingots
  • 1 Black Diamond
  • 4 Ironwood

Shanor Ingots we already covered, and black diamonds you can collect by fighting orcs, especially during sieges.

The hardest resource to get your hands on initially is ironwood.

Follow our ironwood guide here for an in-depth explanation of where to get it.

Essentially, you can enchant an axe and chop wood to have ironwood drop, too.

The Ironwood pickaxe is a top-tier tool in Return to Moria.

It’s a Tier IV pickaxe, which means there are few, if any, ores it can’t mine.

It allows you to mine both gold ore veins and adamant.

Since those are both late-game resources, the ironwood pickaxe allows you to start gathering the resources you’ll need to make late-game items and armor.

Forge your ironwood pickaxe and prepare for the final stages in Return to Moria.
