Through Embervale, you’ll run into Obelisks that provide lore and other rewards.

The very first one you can encounter is during the A Story of Fire questline.

A Story of Fire Walkthrough

To begin the A Story of Fire quest, you’ll need to rescue a few NPCs.

When you commune with the flame, it will give you two quests–A Story of Fire and A Story of Rot.

A Story of Fire begins South of the tower where you rescue the Alchemist.

To get to it, you’re going to need to travel to the Springlands Spire.

From there, fly down to the Harvest Homestead and Woodgard town.

It’s worth stopping at a two-story inn in the town to pick up the My First Journey side-quest since you’re going to be going to the same location for both quests.

With the side quest in hand, it’s time to head to the Obeslisk.

Head West out of town and follow the road that winds around the Shroud.

You won’t be going into the Shroud in this quest provided you stick to the road.

It will take you right to the Obelisk.

You might run into a pack of wolves along the way, so be ready for some light combat.

Otherwise, follow the road until you reach your objective.

You’ll know you’re there when you see a obelisk glowing red.

Interact with it to complete the A Story of Fire quest.

You’ll also see a dead body next to the obelisk.

Interact with that, too, to complete the My First Journey side-quest.

You should receive a pair of boots as a reward.

Otherwise, for interacting with the obelisk, you should receive a spark and 75 XP.

Not a bad way to get some more XP under your belt!
